Billing Policy

 

Water / Sewer Service

Customer Responsibility

 

Billing:  Water/Sewer bills are issued at the first of each month based on monthly meter readings. Total usage on the meter from the previous meter reading date is billed next billing date. Bills are due on the 20th.

 

Payment:  The applicant for service agrees to pay monthly for the utility services rendered by the Cottageville Public Service District. Charges for service and other fees will be billed to customers according to the prevailing rate tariff.

 

Delinquency:  Payment for service is due immediately upon billing and shall become delinquent if not paid by the due date reflected on such billing. A late fee of 10% of the current charges will be added to delinquent account.  Notice of Scheduled Termination of Service will be issued 10 days after.

 

Service shall be terminated on delinquent accounts not paid after Notice of Scheduled Termination of Service. In order to restore service, the customer must pay the total delinquent account balance along with a reconnection fee.  In addition, the customer may be required to pay a security deposit along with any applicable fees required by the Cottageville Public Service District.

 

Security Deposit:  An applicant for service may be required to pay a security deposit. A security Deposit for water service is $50, and sewer service is $80.  If an applicant for service has had prior water/sewer service with the Cottageville Public Service District and established a record of paying his/her bill on time, a security deposit may not be required.  Any deposit paid by a customer to the Cottageville Public Service District will be held until the customer has established a record of paying water/sewer bills on time consistently for twelve months. Upon establishing this payment history, the deposit will then be refunded to the customer on record for this service address.  A tenant’s deposit shall be refunded upon cancellation of services and full payment of any amounts which are due.  If at any time a final bill is requested while a deposit is being held, the deposit will be refunded upon full payment of the final bill.  Interest will be paid on deposits in accordance with Public Service Commission requirements.

 

An applicant for service warrants that all the information provided by them in this application-contract is true and correct and understands that false or misleading information shall be cause for the Cottageville Public Service District to deny or cancel service and demand immediate payment of any amounts which are due.

 

Termination:   The applicant for service understands that he/she assumes responsibility of the account/services listed until proper written notification of termination is given to the Cottageville Public Service District.
